| Well im going to be buying my 1st handgun soon and i cant decide which one to get. First off let me say it will be a sig. I swore up and down nothing could top an hk but the sig proved me wrong. It was more accurate than anything ive evershot and made the beretta m9 my friend brought with him look like a water pistol. My question is i shot the P226 in 9mm and liked everything about it except the caliber. Ive always been a .45acp fan and was wondering if there were any major differences between the P226 and P220. I plan on using this handgun for just about everything for a while until i can replenish my bank account. Any help would be appreciated. |

The P220 is older than the P226, which was derived from it. They are very similar in design. I’m a big fan of SIG’s in general (and my CCW is a P229), but I must admit I seem to see more problems being posted about P220’s than any other SIG classic pistol. (For whatever reason, there just seems to be something magic about 9MM P226’s and P228’s – the balance of caliber and design seems just about perfect.) I keep wanting to get a P220, then talking myself out of it. Thus I have very little first hand experience with it (though what little I’ve had has been good!). Here’s a couple of recent threads showing the range of opinions here: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=4&t=31348 www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=471238 Just to be on the safe side, if you decide to get one I’d suggest getting it from reputable outfit that will resolve any issues that might arise. |
