I got my CHL recently and trying to figure out a way to carry with my work uniform on. They are coveralls. I know the ankle holster would work, but I would rather have the gun on my waist to upper torso area where I wouldn't have to bend down to draw. I bought a don hume shoulder hostler but it looks pretty bulky under my uniform. Looking for brainstorming thanks! his http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Kodiakk/100_2377.jpg Back shot (sorry the only pictures I have of my uniform.) http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Kodiakk/100_2368.jpg Sorry forgot to add I have a Glock 27 or Colt Defender as my carry. |

Not really sure how well these work, Ive never tried one. I see them all the time at the gunshows around here though... Thunderwear |

How about a Kramer Confidant T-shirt. It's basically a t-shirt with a built-in holster. A belly band may work for you as well. FWIW, I don't like belly bands, they are too hot and constrictive for my taste, but that may be a good option for what you have to wear. |
I'm really liking that shirt holster. Do you think those are better then the 5.11 shirts with the pockets under the arms? I was eyeballing those also, but don't know anything about them. I would like to pocket carry but the end of my Glock 27 sticks out the pocket even without a holster and I just bought the Glock for carrying so I really can't hit the wifey up for another gun back to back. height=8
I don't know, that might get me out of a tight spot. How many muggers would expect you to start undressing while trying to rob you haha? Especially when I'm 6'5", them criminals might get the BUBBA feeling and high tail it. |
Looks like they're pretty much the same thing. The Kramer is more of a t-shirt material, while the 5.11 looks more space-age. The terry-cloth makeup of the 5.11 sounds like it'd be really uncomfortable on a Texas summer day! Also, I don't think I like the placement of the 5.11 pockets. They look like they'll position the handgun somewhere either directly on your chest (uncomfortable for every day activities) or just to the side, where the grip can push out and print pretty bad. The Kramer shirt looks like it holds it where a shoulder holster would traditionally position it, keeping it more concealed more often. Just my 24.7080 Iraqi Dinari (two cents at current exchange rate). |

What about a chest rig? I use one of these while hiking and hunting. While hunting I wear it under a zip up hooded sweatshirt, and it works well, not too bulky. I have also worn it under the front of bib overalls, too. It has multiple attachments points that allow you to cant it whatever way feels best to you. I have mine set up for a more diagonal draw. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with coveralls. They run anywhere from $25 to $40 bucks depending on where you find them. They are made by GunMate. ( Uncle Mikes ) They offer a semi-auto version that has a pocket for a spare mag instead of the shell loops as pictured here. www.cheaperthandirt.com/15681-52597-2276.html

I've had one of the Kramer shirts for years and used to use it quite a bit. It's a good option for deep concealment but understand that you are not going to get the gun out fast. The gun sits in a pocket in the shirt and has a velcro strap. You don't need to use the strap, but other than that there is no retention and if you kneel down and look under a car (or something similar) the gun can slide out. Since it's not a breakaway type holster the gun has to be drawn all the way out before it can be removed. So you'll have to unzip the coveralls, raise your offside arm up, and draw the gun up and out. It's not fast, but it does give deep concealment. Another thing about it, if you don't balance the offside holster with something (mine has holsters under both arms) it will pull way to one side and you'll wind up with the neck seam on the offside pulled right up against your neck. I had someone sew up the offside holster and I put a couple of loaded mags in it to balance it. Also, in hot weather it will make you sweat like a pig. It will work, but IMHO a snubby in a pocket is far superior. |

I'll try the snubby later on after the wifey gets relaxed after this latest purchase. I ended up ordering one of those Kramer shirts, hope it works and thanks for the advice! I'm not to worried about a slow draw, the reason why I carry is my work has gotten broken into and I work up there all night alone so I'd have time to draw if I hear a window break or the alarm go off in the other building. |

I don't know how you think you're going to be able to conceal a handgun under that pink shirt... Same goes for the jeans. You'll need to go up a couple sizes. Seriously, just drop something in your pocket. Or you could get a OWB holster and make a cut in the fabric at just the right place and then zipper/velcro it together, then you can reach right in a grab it. ... I just read your other posts. If you're no good with a needle and thread, have your wife, her friend, a sew shop, etc. remove the current pocket and sew on a deeper and possibly conformed new pocket. That'll take care of your problem. (BTW, you remind me of Larry the cable guy!) LtCG: I'd like a soda... Mcdonalds: What size? LtCG: Uh... Mcdonalds: We've got small, medium, large, and rosie o'donnel. |

mr kodiakk: this is another consideration, you could have a side cutout on your overalls where you can IWB inside; a simple piece of velcro or snap button can keep the flap cutout closed...when you draw, simply open the flap, reach in, and draw just a thought, but i'd suspect it would be best when its not too hot.... |
I do have the cuts on the side right behind the pocket. I suppose I could do that. Thanks for the idea. |
ah, ok; i just remembered, b/c when i wear my huntin overalls, its got a huge side opening/venting slots on the sides closed by a couple snap buttons....makes for a fast "rip" open and draw (its a G29 in an Outside the waistband CompTac Paddle, but its attached to an inner pair of pants...) h/w, it does require 2 hands for a quicker draw, but i guess 1 hand could get it done jsut as well; again, pocket or ankle might be a better, less hands on approach on drawing... i hope we have provided some helpful ideas, good luck and stay safe pls let us know if anything works out for you, thx |
