I'm trying to identify this particular commerative colt for a customer of mine. He's wanting a price on it and have no idea where to start. I've had zero luck on gunbroker.com or any collector gun sites. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I don't think that's a Colt Firearms commemorative model.
Non-factory commemorative firearms can be nearly impossible to identify as to who it was made for and what a fair value is. Colt sells unaltered standard production guns to companies like "America Remembers" and others, who in turn send the guns to a custom service that does the actual alteration and embellishment. As such, these guns will letter from Colt as a standard production gun. That can make it very difficult to figure out who it was converted for. A standard rule of thumb is, a genuine Colt factory commemorative will have value above what a standard production model has. No non-Colt factory commemorative will have a value as much as the selling price was. As example you may find an America Remembers commemorative that was sold by them for $2000, but the actual street value will be much less. A non-Colt commemorative often actually has less street value than an unaltered factory standard production gun. In this case all you can do is post better pictures of the gun on a web site like the Colt Forum and hope someone recognizes it and knows the details. Then too, there's always the chance this was a custom "one-off" made for an individual and is a one of a kind. Another option is to buy a Colt Archive letter which will tell you who the gun was shipped to and how many guns of the same type were in that shipment.
