Thinking about picking up a Beretta 92 FS Inox. It seems like there's been nothing but praise for Mec Gar's 18 round flush fit magazines. But is there any way to one that has a stainless bottom to match the gun? I find it odd looking when there's a black magazine sticking out of an otherwise beautiful gun.

The factory INOX magazines have black floor plates on them so they look exactly the same as the black ones when in the pistol.

Was it always like that? I believe I've seen quite a few pictures with stainless magazines in them. If I remember right, the also started making some of the controls in black now too.

No, the earlier INOX pistols came with magazines and controls that were silver in color as well (my 1990 Italian INOX came with two of them). The later models reverted to either a stainless mag body with a black metal or polymer floor plate. IMO, the Mec-Gar mags are great, but you cannot get replacement followers or mag springs when they wear out.

Now that I think about it, a buddy of mine bought an Inox at the same time that I did, but he selected the model with wood grips.  IIRC, the magazines that came with his had silver metal floor plates.  I got one with black plastic grips and the floor plates are black metal.

The controls on both are silver.
