Was up at Cabelas the other night and saw a bunch of these little gems in the case. They caught my eye as being so unique and different. I ended up buying one, and it just so happened to be on sale too.

It is a Nagant Revolver, chambered in 7.62x38R. According to the markings, I was told it was made in 1931, which can be more desirable as it is pre-WWII, and the fit & finish should be a little nicer than the ones made during the war, at least that's what I was told. Either way, I liked it, and walked out the door paying $138 for it. It did come with the cleaning tool and a screw-driver, but no holster. I don't really care about the holster though, as I'd never use it.

It was coated in the cosmoline stuff, so I took an hour or so and completely striped it down, cleaned all the crap out, re-lubed, and releasable. The shear ease of components and assembly / dis-assembly really impressed me. The more I played with it, the more I liked it.

The trigger is heavy, but you kinda get use to it. Even though it is heavy, it is pretty smooth and not gritty at all. I got to shoot it the other day, and any regrets I had about the gun faded extremely quick. The gun overall is fun and a joy to shoot.

Now that I have shot it and love it, I can't wait to get it threaded. Will make this gem even cooler once it's threaded and I can use a suppressor on it

Anyways, here's some pics.

I thought you were nuts until I looked up how a Naaaaaagant works --- it is actually the only revolver that has any chance in heck of being suppressed it seems due to how the cylinder locks forward  -------   should be an interesting project

I don't have one but I think that this aftermarket .32ACP cylinder would be a good alternative to trying to find Nagant ammo.

I have one with CCCP markings and a 1924 date. Neat conversation piece, and Cabela's has had ammo for them during the entirety of the current panic.

Here's some info on lightening the trigger pull (see the second page of the thread.) I used a .223 projectile. It helps, but you have to be careful not to over do it or the trigger won't return correctly.

Funny you should mention that. Yes, they can be "silenced."
