IonBond is the company... the finish is actually called DLC and it's very good.
We have had quite a few guns finished in DLC and one in particular has intentionally been used hard, no very hard. Since I finished that particular gun it has seen 5000 or so rounds, been rolled around in range gravel and Arizona dirt/crud, and seldom maintained or cleaned. The owner is also one of these guys who may as well sweat acid, the kind of guy who rusts Glocks, and thus far the gun has seen zero corrosion despite living in an IWB holster. And, one of the big advantages I see to DLC is that it is transparent... meaning the finish takes on the surface prep of the metal (meaning polished parts stay polished) so you can get a traditional polished finish that stays that way. I still love bluing and hard chrome but overall I would say for a durable "black" finish there may be nothing better than IonBond's DLC. |
