Im not new to shooting or to 1911s, but I recently purchased a Warrior and like it so much that Im probably shooting more rounds in a day than I ever have with the 1911.

So my question is this:  After cleaning and lube, Ive gone out twice and shot 3-400 rnds.  Between the 300 and 400 round mark, the Warrior begins to (occasionally) have FTF while letting the slide come back on a new mag  (mags are Wilson and CM).  Usually I can just tap the rear of the slide and it goes into battery.  And, sometimes I just put a drop of Miltec on the feed ramp and it goes fine again for awhile.

It never happens while shooting a mag, only a few times when dropping the slide on a new mag after 3-400 rnds.  Gun has about 1000 rnds through it now...

Im running a 18.5# recoil spring, and extra power firing pin spring.  Ejection is strong and consistent...spits em out 8-10 ft.

All internals (feed ramp, barrel throat, ect.) are well polished.  Is this just because its dirty?  Is there a better lube to use to help the prob?

Any thoughts??   Thanks

Have you cleaned out the extractor channel ? Sounds like it might be full of crud

I didnt the first time, but I did thoroughly clean it out prior to this last shoot.   And youre right....it was full of crud.  BTW, should there be any lube at all in the extractor channel?  Seems like it would just make it collect more crud...

Ill check it again and see what it looks like after this last shoot.  I mentioned this to my gunsmight today and he thinks its happening after 300 rnds or so because of dirty ammo.  I guess I should mention that all of the ammo shpt was WWB.

He suggested that I try the cheapo Federal or Remington for a little cleaner ammo.

Im going to thoroughly clean the entire gun tonight and try it again tomorrow with different ammo.

Thanks...any more comments are welcome....

I've never lubed my extractor and see no need.  I've gone 500 rounds in my Warrior shooting WWB without malfunction, though after about 300 you can definetly tell the gun is cycling slower due to the fowling. Your extractor may be a little on the tight side.

Thanks SGB...maybe so.  If so,  should I let it wear/break in a little on its own, or adjust it a little myself?  In the mean time, the extractor is the only part I havent polished....until tonight.  Ill see what happens tomorrow

I appreciate it SGB

I'd get some more trigger time on it and see what she does.

I've had problems with my TLR/RL II when I get it hott. Could this be the problem?

My Kimber usually starts doing some goffy stuff about round 250. Its usually just a dirty feed ramp and other stuff. Kimber also recomends cleaning after every 150rounds...

I dont think its a "heat" issue as when we shoot, we shoot several different firearms and switch back and forth.

After disassembly, it was just full of crud...I mean the powder residue looked like a black paste.  I detail cleaned it and lubed it up (with CLP) this time.

I never had any probs with my weapons using CLP in the USMC, so Im going back to that.

I mirror polished the feed ramp again, extractor end and bevel, cocking lug and all other contact parts.  Checked extractor tension/position visibly and it looks good to go.

Headed out today to shoot my LW AR and Ill run it again and see what happens....I tend to think its just crud build up though....

My Warrior did the twice during it's first trip to the range.  I shot 520 rounds through it with just those two incidents.  I just tapped the back of the slide and it went into battery.

I've run another 800 rounds through it with no problems at all.  Probably just a break-in issue or a cleaning issue.  I wouldn't sweat it.  But do run more ammo through it and monitor it.  Let us know how it goes.
