So just brought home my new 1911 TRP 100rds though it so far, flawless.

Anyways, when i was cleaning it i noticed some numbers hand engraved into the slide and barrel. Is this normal? ie. Did Springfield hand engrave this themselves at the factory? Or has someone along the supply chain made a mark on the pistol? The reason i found this strange and am asking is due to the being hand engraved and looking pretty crummy. I would have though Springfield would have laser etched it or stamped it or something..

What says ARFCOM?

EDIT: Image removed, thanks guys

The gunsmith engraves all of the matching parts with the same number so they will remain together thruought the assembly/tuning process.
