Have you had any durability problems with your Kimber?
Approximatley how many rounds has it put down range? Notice the question is about durability, not initial feed reliability. I want to learn about how well Kimber parts hold up. I would like to know about parts breaking, cracking, or wearing out, or holding up. I am not asking about new gun functionality problems having to do with initial parts dimensioning issues. |
| My Kimbers have been very durable. I just keep them lubed well. The only thing I do not like is having to change out the recoil spring every 1000 rounds on a 4" Kimber, but you have to do that on every Commander length 1911. I have had no problems with MIM parts cracking or the Swartz firing pin safety. |

I love my kimber. Very accurate and reliable. I did have some parts failures but they were very early on. I've got about 5k rounds through. In the first 600 rounds I had the following breakages:
Extractor gave up in like 200 rounds Plunger tube came off the frame and needed to be restaked in 600 rounds No other problems since |

I have had my Kimber Custom II for about a year and a half. I have a little over 6,000 rounds through it so far, and nothing has broke on it. I just change the recoil spring (16lb) out every 1500 or so. The vast majority of it has been my reloads also. It is super reliable, but the finish shows quite a bit of holster burn.

The reason I bought my first kimber, a cutsom II, is because the one I was shooting at the range was so sweet. I asked why they didn't rent other 1911 pistols..answer...The Kimber Custom II had over 70,000 rounds through it. replaces the barrel at 50,000 rounds and the springs regularly. That was enough for me.
