Bought mine used and have had it for 5 years.
She has been very reliable for me, but I recently learned that many people have problems with the main spring housing. My understanding is they are plastic and prone to breaking. Should I pro-actively change it out? Like to shoot. Like to Carry. Like to keep it clean. But I ain't a gunsmith and my knowledge of all the inner workings is not intimate. |

Still have the original mainspring housing. It is just fine. |

there are no problems, its all hype from people who complain about any and everything. if it worries you change it but 7 of my 1911s have plastic.
after you change it you might need to make sure to throw away any magpul magazines you might have, ya know they are plastic. |

I just bought a Pro Carry II and changed mine out with a Wilson Combat. If I had know about all the work it would entail, I probably would have not done it. The new one had to be filed considerably. It is replaced and I am happy but it took about 5 hours of filing, fitting, watching youtube videos, filing, fitting, you get the point. On the plus side, I did learn ALOT about the inside workings of a 1911 so I don't consider that time as wasted. Weird, I wouldnt have guessed it would have taken that much fitting. I bought the msh/magwell from TMC and it dropped right in. Probably a 10 min operation |
