You folks get this email? I'm not a huge Kimber fan but I have a few 1911s and they are pretty guns. My first one didn't run very good. Regardless it's something new for everyone to talk about.

[#1]
I can't fathom anything coming from Kimber at this point that I wouldn't prefer a comparable gun from someone else.

1911's

Revolvers

Long guns

I can think, immediately, of alternatives that I'd prefer.

Still interested in seeing how Kimber tries to reinvent the wheel on this one.

Are they still in New York, Paying taxes to support anti-gun legislators?

[#3]
I'm interested.  But my guess is it won't be cheap.  Personally, I think it's a smart move.  If hi cap guns are ever banned, they would be poised to capitalize.  But I like revolvers, so....

I'm hoping for a cobra/agent size 6 shooter.

They found a way to make a MIM cylinder, But it comes with 4 differant extractors.

Kimber is bad
G19, is the best
I doubt half of you  haters have never even shot kimber,  much less owned one.Just stop.

I won a Kimber at a NRA dinner, I've shoot the hell outa that pistol & not one problem has come up.

The cylinder looks very Rhino-ish.

It is cool to see wheelguns making a comeback lately.

No, I'm just having some fun.
From what I have seen as to new guns from Shot Show 2016,
I applaud Kimber for coming out with a revolver. There has been a open niche for a Python quaility wheel gun for a long , long, time. I hope Kimber can fill it.
Second Nighthawk Custom is coming out with a full custom Browning High power. The market has been over saturated with custom 1911's. I said 5 years ago that somebody should do a custom High Power as a Production gun.
So Thank You Kimber and Nighthawk for thinking outside the box instead of slapping a differant coat of paint on the same product you had last year.

Interesting cut to that cylinder.

I'm always hoping that someone will come out with a .327 WITH a matching lever rifle to go with it.  I doubt this is what Kimber has in mind though.

When looking at their promotional photograph of the front of the cylinder you will notice a machined edge that looks like perhaps a 45 degree angle.  This seems somewhat  odd to me, unless, there are retractable pins for the cylinder to rotate on to facilitate a removable replaceable loaded cylinder or two.

My Custom II was the most pistol I've ever owned.  I did sell it when I was downsizing.  But it ran well for a thousand rounds.  Only malfs I had were when I made some handloads for the the first time and I think they were too weak.  Other than that it would shoot WWB 230 ball like a laser.  That trigger......

Plus I thought it looked good.

I'll pass.  AT least they could have also offered a model with a longer barrel and more substantial grip.

Might want to wear a face-plate, sun glasses and arm brace when shooting full-bore 357s out of it.
1/18/2016 1:18:08 AM EDT
[#25]
I might get one.  Will have to wait and see what the street price is.  I'm not a fan of "lightest" anything in 357s though.  Would also love to see a 3" version.

[#26]
I think it's nice. It's 6 shots right?  I think it's a good place to Except maybe a bit too expensive.

(the link didn't work for me earlier, but it's working now)  I'm not seeing how much it weighs.  Even though the claim is it's the lightest.  They might want to tell us what they think that is.
1/18/2016 1:28:35 AM EDT
[#27]
I hope it goes well for them.  Since Colt has their head up their ass when it comes to revolvers... Here is hoping that Kimber will make a line of good, quality, colt style DA revolvers.

Yeah, I don't see how there can be a downside to more good choices in revolvers over Smith and Ruger.  Should breed good competition and maybe make them all step up their game.  Or maybe not.  But at least it's another choice.  If it works well.

Did some browsing around there, I think they said 23oz?

Wasn't one of the airweight SW's like 12oz or 9oz?

I think the funniest description of shooting one of those was posted here awhile back.
"Wanna know what it's like shooting one of the airweights in 357?
Find an old like 1970s pickup truck. Open the hood. Now place your hand on frame.
Slam the door shut, as HARD as you can.
Want to know what it's like to shoot it twice?
Now see you're going to open that hood again..'

Good for them bringing something new to the market. But I will pass also. Do not want a little hand cannon 357, hoping they will expand the revolver line, would buy a mid-size 357 six shot with larger grip, 3-4-6 inch barrel, blue that baby and they'll have my money.
1/18/2016 12:35:10 PM EDT

I like the look, but lighest and .357 are 2 things that really dont go together to well for me.

Too bad they couldn't offer it in a 3" barrel.  Would fill a hole that has existed since S&W discontinued the 65.

Meh, cylinder release moves the wrong way!  I could reload faster than Jerry Miculek if he was stuck using a Colt and I had my S&W 625.

You sure about that?  It would be interesting to see Jerry do it with a Colt.  LOL.  You never know, he might run it super well too.   The trick is to not push on the cylinder before you have the takedown lever engaged.  Otherwise it just makes it stick.  I actually like the Colt's in theory a little better because it would be less likely to be engaged when shooting.   I've never engaged my smiths yet, but I did get a nice gash one time from my 442 which led me to believe I could engage that thing without an optimum grip under stress......

But yeah, overall the Colt's takedown is going to be slower.

23 ounces is night light at all for a small gun.  That's about what my Colt DS weighs.  I still wouldn't want to fire .357's in it, but I'm guessing some guys could handle that.

I had a Ultra Tactical Raptor Wombat II.87 Elite Super Carry Awesome Gun Fun Time.. it didn't work.

I had a Solo... it didn't work.

I don't have high hopes for this revolver.

Even when there's a panic and the shelves are empty, your local LGS will have half a dozen Kimbers for sale

My two Kimbers have been good to go, same as the 10 or so in the hands of close family members. I do prefer my Dan Wesson, however.

I like revolvers, and I am very interested in learning more about this one.

Yep, I like the GLOCK 19 as well...........

They said it's the lightest 6 shot revolver. An airweight only has 5.

S&W makes an 327 with a 2" barrel that only weight 21.4oz  and its an 8-shot 357 Mag.

It's clever wording. They aren't claiming to be lightest revolver, the are claiming to be "the lightest 6 shot .357 mag revolver".

It's like saying "I am the most attractive man in the room..... wearing a green hat". It narrows the field lol.

1.3 ounces more than an M&Pc.

It's a six shot .357 and at 23 ounces, it's heavy enough to actually shoot .357 magnum loadings in it.

Oftentimes the lightest handgun isn't the best handgun.

I'd be interested if the grip and trigger feel right, it looks like its very well designed for concealed carry.

I shot one yesterday at media day. For me its just a J frame that holds an extra bullet and costs twice as much. Whoever thought a $900 .357 pocket revolver seemed like a good idea needs an employment review. The build quality was solid. The polished finish is not my thing but some may dig it. I think they will have a hard time selling them.

For some reason one more round seems like a big deal.  Plus I'm not sure why everyone is focusing on how bad .357 is through a small gun. Yeah, it is, but it's not like you don't have a bunch of choices with a lot less recoil.

I have hated every snubby 357 I've shot.

I've also had mixed success hitting things with snubby 357s.

My ideal barrel length for that caliber is 4 for carry and 6 for range.
