Took the girlfriend and her new Kimber out to shoot today. The model is the Customized Pro Carry SLE, which is a Commander sized .45 ACP. The first 25 rounds she was doing terrible, everything was low, which is unlike my little sure shot. She kept mumbling the trigger felt weird, but I said "nah, you are just anticipating the recoil and pulling down." Finally, I tried it and yes indeedy folks the trigger had gone gonzo on us. Felt like about 15 pound pull. You yard back on it and feel nothing, then tug more and it would finally release the hammer. After wasting five rounds I dry-fired the bejabbers out of it and the trigger returned to normal. Near as I can figure there must have been a burr of some sort on the trigger assembly or a piece of grit got into the gun? Load was 230 grain FMJ that my Colt Gov't Model was gulping down in vast quantities. Anybody else ever have something like this happen to their 1911, Kimber or not? Once the trigger self-healed she was back to her normal prowess. Nothing quite like a woman wielding a 1911 with confidence to get a guy's attention...
