I'm in the market for a Kydex IWB holster--my interest in Kydex has to do with minimizing total thickness and Kydex seems to do that. I'm familiar with leather IWB holsters and have had several that are top notch (VM II comes to mind). But I've never used a Kydex IWB rig and thought I'd ask some questions of those who have: first a general question, then some questions on specific holsters. This holster will be for a Kahr PM9, BTW. General question: are these holsters comfortable? Specific question: Can anybody comment on my preliminary list of holsters I'm considering? Pros and cons? Anything I should be looking at that isn't on the list? The 3 holsters on I'm looking at are: Comp-Tac Ghurka Comp-Tac C-T.A.C Threat Soultions' TSC My primary consideartions are comfort and weapon retention. All input is appreciated. |

i like kydex holsters...they are pretty comfortable the Ghurka is fine--pretty comfortable, but i would rather get the CTAC as the clips are on an even plane and a little more balanced--the Ghurka's clip on the holster body itself adds a little more width to the holster when in use the UCR is pretty dang comfortable (i carry my G29 in it), its 2 pieces of kydex riveted together h/w, i noticed that mine wears out the finish faster than other holsters.... my G29 fits secure, but a little loose--the Comptac had a little more retention feel and has adjustable tension also, the Comptac pro undercover is a pretty simple and comfortable holster--h/w, its kydex is thinner than the Gurkha that i had and not adjustable |

I carry my PM9 in a C-TAC. I love it. I have tried all the different clips but the velcro. I like the standard clips the best. But if I plan to tuck my shirt in, I use the c-clips. I think it is very comfortable. That being said, I have never had a leather IWB holster. Regarding retention, I could play basketball and not worry about it. |
| I use a CTAC for my PM9. All I do is wear a tshirt over it and it's good to go. The gun is so thin already it really hides well. CTAC is pretty comfortable, especially if you get used to it. I also wear a really thick gun belt with it and that seems to help alot too. |
| I carry my PM9 in a C-TAC. I use the c-clips and wear it with a tucked in shirt, or untucked shirt as the mood strikes. The whole thing disappears even under a tucked t-shirt. I've worn it just about everywhere, and even my gun nut friends have never figured out I was carrying it. Never had a problem with retention. |

FIST!!!!!!!! I carry my SW99 compact in a Fist K1 ultra thin kydex IWB. After going through the drawer full of holsters, the Fist is the easist to conceal, is easy to reholster and is stable due to the "wings" or belt loop extenders that give the holster a wide base on your belt. I can easly carry during hot summer months in shorts and a T-shirt. Just wear an underarmor under shirt under the untucked T to keep the kydex off your skin. go to www-fist-inc.com |

I have the CTAC and just got the UCR yesterday. I will say, the UCR beats the CTAC hands down. Much more comfortable. However the CTAC will stay because of its ability to be tucked. Otherwise, the first thing I said when I put on the UCR was "WOW" and I thought the CTAC as good. Makes me wonder if the VMII I have en route is going to be any better... |
