Surprised there isn't a topic about this already... it's definitely on my short list:

Quoted: Meh. It may be comfortable but it's not comforting. Only 8 rounds and only a 3" barrel. I'd rather have a G26. . Thats what I thought..finally got rid of the G26, loved it for what it did. But carrying has really become a hassle, I carry the LCP in my front pocket everyday and don't have the worries of the G26 anymore. Some jobs are not too manageable to CCW, no matter what IWB rig you wear. I have been practicing with the LCP and love it. It is reliable, accurate and the .380 has proven to be a good round to use. Wayyy better than .32, .25, .22..it's acut down 9mm, as you know. I also got a Beretta PX4 SC which I like just as much as the G26 if I wear my regular CCW rig. |

guns like that shouldn't have a manual safety IMO. take it off and i am game. That makes two of us. Well said. You don't have to use it. It's a concern it could get bumped on during carry. Many (myself included) would rather not have a safety to flip if the need arises to draw for protection. Speaking of which, I'm left handed, so this gun is pretty much useless to me anyways for carry. |

there's a lot of negative in this thread. I, personally, am anxious to check one out in person because I've been looking into a compact 9mm for a CCW sometime and have been impressed with the LCP thus far (buddy owns one) and I've heard lots of good things including "gee, if only it came in 9mm". And I am one that likes the idea of a manual safety. Just me though I guess.

Anyone heard anything about prices on them? Tombstone Tactical has it for $375 shipped |

The capacity doesn't both me - it is comparable to my beloved P225, and is quite a bit smaller and lighter. I am happy to see that it has more respectable sights (I hope) than many similarly sized weapons.
Maybe after it has been out a year I will be game. -shooter |

My LC9 arrived today. In fact I'm playing with it now.
Initial impressions are good. The gun is incredibly thin and light. The DAO trigger is long and stacks a little towards the end but it's perfectly acceptable for a pistol of this type. The sights are good and free of sharp edges as is the rest of the gun. Size wise, it's bigger than I had expected. It's not much thicker than my wife's LCP but it's about an inch taller and longer. It's more comparable in size to my LCR. Different shape of course... If I can get some time before sundown, I'll take pics of all three to give you guys an idea of overall shape, etc. This should be a phenomenal seller for Ruger, no doubt about it. |

thanks for posting the pics of it and the comparison! That's very helpful, although I still need to check one out in person. Now that I heard Kahr is releasing a CM9 and Sig with the P290 I'm gonna have some serious comparisons to make.
But I'm liking what I see on this so far! |

Darn, its bigger than I was hoping for. I was hoping Ruger would make it similar to the Kahr PM9. But its closer in size to the PM45. WW Maybe I've overstated the size of the gun. It is a little taller than I had expected but the magazine does hold seven rounds. The gun is very thin––really no wider than the LCP––and I don't think the gun could be chambered in anything else without some design changes and rework. Since this gun is brand new to the market, the holster selection is pretty limited. Still, I think this thing will conceal extremely well with the right holster. But it's probably too big for pocket carry. If that's your desired mode of carry, the LCP is going to be the best bet. |

Nice. Have you tried it with the flat bottomed base pad? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Hate the fact that the gun has a magazine safety, manual safety and an ugly loaded chamber indicator. It also has a keyed lock too, but that will never get used. Unfortunately in today's world these things are necessary in order to sell guns in the largest state in the US, so I can see why Ruger did it. I'm sure someone will figure out ways to remove the safeties soon enough. Ruger says they designed the thumb safety in such a way that it can be pretty much forgotten about for those who do not like this feature. It is easy to disengage but hard to engage and set so that inadvertent activation is unlikely. Personally, I like a thumb safety on something that might get dropped in a trouser pocket or carried in a handbag. I can leave or take a magazine disconnect and I don't see that as anything to get too worked up about one way or the other. I didn't like the loaded chamber indicator when I first saw this feature on the SR series but now I like it. It doesn't interfere with sight picture and is one of the few loaded chamber indicators that actually works as advertised. It is a somewhat unusual design and I admit my initial dislike was based solely on cosmetics. Quoted:
Magazine appears to be made by Mec-Gar and holds 7rds of 9mm, comes with an extended finger rest installed and a flat one in the box. I assume you tried and would have said so but are the PF9 and LC9 magazines interchangeable? |

I assume you tried and would have said so but are the PF9 and LC9 magazines interchangeable? The safeties don't really bug me much, just don't really see a need for them. I agree on being able to completely forget about the safety, probably even see an aftermarket part to do away with it eventually. The PF9 and LC9 mags are nearly identical, but the mag slot is in different spots. A PF9 mag does not seat in the LC9 deep enough to function correctly. |

Just got home from picking up a Ruger LC9 and thought I would share my first impressions and some pics of it and other compact 9mm's. Price was a very fair $359 before taxes(thanks Nick at Brightwater Ventures - Vancouver, WA Did Brightwater have many in stock? That's about 3 miles from my house and I've been wanting to get a look at the LC9. |
