I'm looking to pick up two of these, one in 357 and one in 22.
Mainly for the wife more than me, she's finally expressed an interest in CC'ing, and I figure I can start her on the 22 and then move her up to the 357(and prolly have her carry 38's, but if I'm getting a revolver for 38 Id rather have the option of shooting 357's as well) Anybody know the best place to start looking for them(prefer both with the XS front night site but I can probably pull that off myself)? What am I looking at price wise? I tried checking gunbroker but in my expereince things are usually more expensive on GB that they would be else where. Is it reasonable to think I maybe alble to find both for around $750? Thanks |
| I have both and purchased them new for $420 & $400, plus the transfer fee's. I would say you'd be good at $850 for the pair. These where the standard .357 & .22. If your looking for the XS sights, buy them installed on the .357 and save yourself some cash. I don't think they're available for the .22, I haven't compared the pistols side by side, but I was told the .22 front sight is shorter than the .38/.357. |

Good luck aquiring the 22 it's an allocated item. Most online vendors are banging you and easy $499+ if that for one. I just scored one from a guy on KCMO for less incl transfer than ffl's here, were selling for.
BTW: going to run it hard tomorrow, only ran a few through it yesterday, that and the .357 rifle i scored on. |

The XS sights only come on the .38 from the factory. You can buy them aftermarket for any model LCR though. The .22 sights are built the exact same way as the .38s and .357s. The XS sights are installed by removing a single roll pin that holds the blade sight on and installing the XS sight. You can get the sights for about $58 or so retail. Installation is simple. |

If someone is looking for one, give them a call at (702) 479-1470 and they'll get you hooked up. |
| I actually found them for just over $400 for the 22 version at the local gun shows, but I ended up getting a killer deal on a Taurus 357 605, and so far the wife loves it. I put it some new wolffe lowpower trigger and hammer springs and she has no problems with it. |

I have never been a fan of the Ruger double action guns as a S&W fan boy I find the triggers of the Rugers were usually substandard.
The LCRs put that all to rest , although I don't own one I have shot them quite a bit and think they are fine guns. Be cautious of pushing your wife into trying the 357 in the light gun until she has time to work up to it . I believe it to be quite a handful. Remember that no round from a snub pistol is a guaranteed fight stopper . Better your wife (or any other defender) has confidence in letting loose with a string of well aimed fire with 38s or 38+P than a single blast of 357 that wracks her grip and sight picture so badly that everything past the first shot is just noise. My recommendation for anyone seeking deals on guns or ammo is to give the local shop a chance to come up with a price. Many times the prices seen in the small shops reflect their cost to inventory an expensive piece of hardware for who knows how long . Many times a question about a cash on the barrel head price can bring surprising results. With a quick turnaround and no risk on his part the local guy can sometimes shave his usual mark up by quite a bit . Never hurts to ask |
