I was recently at my local FFL dealer and was looking for something in 10mm, when the dealer showed me a Glock in 10mm, in full size just like I prefer, but then explained the serial number barred anyone except law enforcement from purchasing it. He explained the function was identical to the civilian model but the serial number prevented sale, even to willing customers.
I was wondering if there was more information on this policy and why this double standard exists. |

Think it has to do with excise tax being paid to fedgov on the civilian models, vs police guns where no excise tax was paid. A police officer can purchase an LE Glock and legally sell it to anybody later on. If this were not so we wouldn't be seeing all the surplus G22's from time to time.

It has NOTHING to do with the serial number and everything to do with Glock policy. Glock, Inc only allows dealers to sell "blue label" Glocks to LE agencies on official letterhead ( no excise tax) OR to individual officers and other first responders (security guards, firefighters, paramedics, military, etc) (with tax) |

IF you were a store employee, you could get a "blue lable" Glock as an employment benefit (but that was pre-2007. Glock could have tightened up on that since then). The program is supposed to benefit active duty LEOs with reduced pricing (like basic Glock 17s for about $397). |

S+W does the same type of deal LEO gets a better price but have to sign a document stating they will not and I believe can not sell the weapon in the future. Yup..S&W does the same thing. I got an AR for less then $900 when they were selling for almost $2000 at the peak of the panic buying. I did not have to sign any form saying I would not resale it. |
| Glock does Leo "blue label" pricing for gssf, criminal just majors, ems, fire, mil,, leo, emt, all first responders, detention, correction. Only thing that is different is the gen three has a thirsting mag and the label on the box is white or in the case of fde guns pink. All think all gen four come with three mags no matter who they go to. If it ain't got a blue label tell em he's full of shit. Serial number has nothing to do with it. |

perhaps what he means is that the Blue Label guns need to be sold to certain people as some FFLs have lost their privileges to sell GLOCKs for violating GLOCK policy...GLOCK knows which pistols they sell as blue labels by their serial numbers but far easier by the blue label...GLOCK has tightened their authorized buyers list for blue label pistols but it still seemingly covers most anyone in some form or another...
