Were any 1911A1s ever issued by the US Military ever issued WITHOUT lanyard loops?

I'm trying to build an 1911A1 clone, but my mainspring housing has no Lanyard loop, and I would hate to have to replace it so if any were ever issued like that I won't have to.

If I do have to replace it, where can I get an A1 mainspring housing with the loop?  I found some flat ones at Numrich, but that's not what I need.  How much fitting is required?

brownells has an arched with loop, but its checkered

In my experience, very limited fitting required

Surplus ones are pretty easy to find on Gunbroker.

Auto Ordnance sells one.
Arched MSH with Lanyard Loop
The price is around $32 before shipping
I bought one of these in spite of the atrocious spelling in the ad, it fit and functioned just fine in a Springfield Range Officer

The military always had loops on every 1911 and now the m9 and m11 as well. While not the case in the past in both Iraq and Afghanistan the use of a lanyard was mandated - perhaps maybe not in special ops but regular joes were required to use them.

I also got one of those arched, serrated MSHs with lanyard loop and used it on an RIA. Everything was fine.

Were the original military ones checkered?

Yes, early. Later they were serrated like the ones on my Remington Rand and the RIA. BTW, there should be no fitting req'd. if you get the one from Auto Ordnance. But then again, that probably depends on what frame you're using.
