| Anybody own a Larry Vickers 1911? I would love to see some pictures if anybody has access to one. I've come accross one of his full blown custom jobs for sale and it might be too good to pass up. Last time I checked he had a ten year waiting list. Now that hes working for HK on their M4 project, who knows how long the wait will be. Thanks for any help. |
Agreed... I used to have a bunch of pictures of Vickers work but somehow they have been lost. I’ll look a bit harder today to see if I can find them. VA_Dinger – I think I know which gun you were looking into… I considered it myself but as I recall there was no Pony or at least SA on it so for me it was a no go. In all honesty, while there is no doubt Vickers builds a very fine gun, if I were a custom 1911 buyin’ kind of guy there are other makers who’s work is just as nice that I would also search out. Unless you absolutely have to have the name “Vickers” on the gun (which by the way is quite understandable) I wouldn’t stop with him only. Just my $0.02. |
No not really, I could not be happier with the performance and reliabilty of my Kimber. I liked the idea of the Vickers for the stated reasons, but I certianly do not need a full blown custom job. Small upgrades like a , ambi-safety, Ed Brown grip safety, and Dawson light rail is all I really need or want. I usually prefer to keep my 1911's with their stock parts, internally at least. Now a full blown custom Browning High Power from Novak is a different matter. |

Thanks, I'm going to have to get my hands on that issue. |
