I have an old Tac Star laser target and bore insert...but don't have the laser to go with it.

I've seen laser bore sighters (brass cartridge shaped lasers)...but they are always on.

Does anyone make a relatively inexpensive laser that works from the firing pin hit....

Be a good way to dry-fire practice.

Thanks!!

I don't know of anything like what you're looking for, but IMO dry fire practice with a laser is best done with it on all the time, that way you can see where your point of aim is during the draw AND what's happening to it as you pull the trigger.

Several years ago I talked a friend of mine into a laser for his snubby.  Practicing the draw from his pocket showed him that he was sweeping the muzzle across his off hand while bringing it up to the gun.  Something he hadn't realized he was doing before that.  It can also help a shooter learn to keep the muzzle on target while squeezing a long, DA trigger.

Beamhit laser systems.

The Beamhit is used by at least one federal LE agency to train new personnel.
