I'm lefty, and have been an active pistol shooter for 15 years or so.

Glocks have been very good to me, without exception.

The H&K USP series can be set up to be lefty friendly, also.  The mag release is ambi already, and you can swap decock/safety lever to either side of the slide.

I have had very little success with 1911 types.

Sigs....didn't present much of a problem, I was also able to hit the decock easily with my index finger.

Most lefties get used to manipulating the mag release with the index finger, on almost any pistol.

Revovlers are nice, until it comes time to reload.  Although I have several nice revolvers, I can't really carry one for defense for that reason.  Yes, 5-6 shots should be enough, but....

Hope this helps.

Glocks are very lefty friendly.  Most DAO autos are also lefty friendly since they don't have safeties.  I find Sigs have a very poorly placed slide release for leftys.  I recently shot a FN FNP 9mm that has an ambi safety/decock that I really liked.

The only true left handed pistol I can think of is a CZ85. I've shot just about every other type of firearm made left handed. It's just all what you get use to.

SW M+P. The slide release is ambi and the mag release can be swapped to work lefty.

BTW, I am left handed and have no issues shooting right handed guns. It's all in how you do your techneique. My only concession is to put an ambi safety on my 1911 and BHP.

The only REAL true lefty-friendly handgun is the H&K P7M8. However, these ain't cheap!

Either a Glock, XD or one of the new DAO H&K's would be a good choice, IMO.

Good luck!

You are forgetting the HK P2000 in LEM.  100% totally ambidextrous and the most comfortable gun I, and many others, have shot.  Very accurate, very tough, very easy to totally strip, easy to clean, and very accruate!  I'm fond of my HK's, but especially of my P2000.

HKs (USP w/ ambi safeties, LEMs, etc), converted berettas, glocks (very ambi capable imo), etc
