Proud owner of an HK USP .45f here. I am looking for some cleaning options that willl get it clean enough for inspection (police duty pistol) and be fast without stinking up my basement workshop. Both of my parents had cancer in their 40s, so less toxic cleaning options would be appreciated. Breakfree CLP does a good job of cleaning, but it seems messy. I used MPRO-7 and it cleaned really well. I am allergic to all forms of citrus products so those are a NO GO. I like the Tetra products but they are solvent based. I am looking for a good cleaner, then something like mil-tec (sp?) for a lube. Thanks |

Ballistol. Non-toxic, you can eat it. BUT it has a smell that people either love or hate. I happen to love it. I use it in all aspects of cleaning, only using something stronger in the most dirty of bores. I use nothing but Ballistol on my Hk handguns. For years Ballistol was the only cleaner recommended by HK for it's rifles. |
eezox, at least in the aerosol, is a carcinogen (toxic!). not sure about the non-aerosol. mpro7 is freaking awesome. i have been using hoppes+bf clp lately. when i was using mpro7 and fp10, after seasoning my cleaning sessions were VERY short - i think i will go back to that. |
for me.
