These glocks seem like useful training aids, but I've never seen one except on the glock webpage. Does anyone have real life experience with them? Are they available anywhere?

As far as I know they're LE only sales. Doesn't mean you can't get them, just that you can't buy them from Glock, and they probably have language in their reseller agreements that states they can only be sold to LE. As with virtually anything however, there are ways to acquire them.

I've fired probably 500 rounds through a 17r and never had an issue. It ran reliably.

I don't know the model, but I have a friend that has one of the red non resetting training guns.

It's pretty cool

He probably means the 17T.

I want an 18R

I've been in multiple classes where an instructor used the red framed glock 17. I was under the impression that the trigger pull was consistently like a g17 trigger pull; the slide did not have to manipulated between trigger pulls.

The instructors primarily used the red gun to demonstrate proper manipulations, students rarely used it, I never did. It worked well for its intended purpose.

That's the 17R.  I'd like to have one just for dry fire practice.

Somebody makes a Glock dry-fire trainer that has two lasers in it.

SIRT gun. I ordered one when they had the instructor discount. Its just not here yet. I've played with a friends plenty, its cool. I think breaking front sight focus to watch a laser will develop bad habits. The trigger is really adjustable, if I can get it to match my carry gun I will just tape over the laser. I'd also be interested in the glock product but there is no info out there.

T's are easy to come by, but right now I can't buy the ammo. If I could get the ammo, I would use it as a "dry" fire gun in the garage.

Even when you can get it, it's 70 cents a damn round.

I just handled a 17R today at a GSSSF event. The trigger does reset without manipulating the slide but the trigger pull isn't quite the same as the real thing. It's close but not exact.

Thanks for posting this; its exactly what I was looking for. A stock trigger and a worn in trigger are far different, do you think that was the problem or its just a different trigger?

I have a SIRT gun coming and they can be close but it isn't the same as a stock glock.

It will reset at a further distance than a real trigger. Basically it will simulate a first trigger pull every time.
