I bought my Glock in 2001, and discovered a few years later that it was eligible for a frame replacement. I sent it in to Glock, and when I got it back it had a new frame, frame internals, and a new recoil spring. I am sure that Glock probably test fired it too. I did a standard disassembly and inspection before firing it. I took it out to the range and fired around 60 rounds through it. I had 3 drop free mags, only two of which would drop free. Other than that it functioned as it should. I went home, cleaned it, and about 2 weeks later, being today, I took it to the range again. I just brought two mags. At first it fired just fine, then it seemed to have a problem feeding, then a stovepipe. I removed the casing, and then tried another mag. I made sure it was seated and pulled the base as hard as I could. I then fired it again and about 5 shots in the mag is falling out. I let my friend and one of the range guys fire it and they did not have this problem. I was not limp wristing, nor do I think I was pressing the mag release. I, do, however shoot using the CAR system. Body bladed to the target, weapon eye level, and slightly tilted towards my left shoulder. I have never had this happen with my Glock 19 or seen a mag just "fall" out while shooting like this. It did happen though. Anyone ever experience something like this? *Update: I have since gone to the range and tried using a different magazine. I payed close attention to my grip and careful not to hit the mag release while shooting, I did not experience anymore mag drops or misfeeds. |
| Do you have the extended mag release? My guess is you somehow managed to activate the mag release, especially since neither of the other shooters had any problems with it...and that is easier to do with the extended model. Try shooting a hundred or so rounds using something like a modified Weaver rather than the ultra rigid CAR, making certain not to touch the release button and see if that does not 'solve' your problem. |

great gun but they have had problems too. Also the Glock points better for me. I don't like their top heaviness. Their thicker slide and the grip to barrel angle seems to print easier IMO. Doesn't work well with a fit skinny guy who likes to wear t-shirts that make me look good for the ladies haha That said I've never had a problem with any of mine nor friends of mine. Gotta figure with so many out there you're bound to see problems like cars Ford vs. Chevy |

Maybe your new frame doesn't like your old mags? I'd try to buy or borrow several different mags first. MidwayUSA has them on sale right now for about $16 I think. Is the mag release factory original? Does the spring tension seem OK? Hopefully new or different mags will solve your problem. *edit* Try purposely shooting with your thumbs far away from the mag release and see what happens. Strange though, on my Glocks, I have to rotate my grip and press hard to get the mags to release. So much so I've considered extended releases, but figured I'd keep well enough alone. |
