Are the SA loaded real accurate? Any examples? What can I expect for groups at 25 and 50 yards? |

Too many variables in shooters & ammo to give an absolute, IMO. Most quality 1911s will do 2" or less @ 25 yards with certain ammo. Some will do even better. Probably double that for 50 yard shooting, maybe a bit more. AFAIK, only Les Baer gives an accuracy guarantee with their guns. |
IMHO, a company puts "Gold" on a model so they can gouge another $200-300 out of the buyer. Kimber is not alone, Colt did it too & there's probably others as well. Not to say these guns are a POS or anything but I really doubt they're worth the extra $$$. IMO, a mid-line 1911 is perhaps the best buy. You get better fit & features over the bottom feeders & don't have to pay the big $$$ of the top end models. This is "models", not "mfgrs"! For example, SA uses a two-piece barrel in their lower end units but not in their top end ones. OTOH, I don't wish to pay for an ambi safety & other doodads I don't want. Thus, the mid-level units fit my needs better. Or, you can do as I did. I bought a used SA basic unit & had a Wilson NM barrel installed & the sucker shoots like a demon now. All that for less than $600. The only 1911 I've seen do better is a Wilson made 1911. My .o2 |
