I know nothing about them other than what seems to be a very good opinion of them on the 1911forum; but, need a faster opinion. My questions are, how compatible are they with aftermarket parts and just generally what can you tell me about them? Where do they land in the Aftermarket parts will Drop-in VS. Parts will need fitting VS. non BUL/DE parts won't work at all' range? Not the gun but the model I'm considering. Full length guide rod, but no bull barrel. I don't even mind the giant billboard. Owner says 50 rounds fired and then stored, no reliability issues and good trigger. Pics seem to bear out condition. |

Last week Atlantic posted several M5 variants and i made what at first I thought was a stupid purchase: the 4.25” 40 cal. I mean come on, a 1911 in 40! I When I went to pick it up I figured my FFL (which is actually a pawnshop and the owner prides himself on knowing a lot about/researching the crazy firearms people bring in) would give me grief. Instead, he was very impressed with the quality/features and had researched the Bul line. And when I handled it, so was I. Much nicer than I expected. Note that I was in the process of jumping into (researching) the DS 1911/2011 game and Bul Armory’s current models run mid-range ($2,250-3000) and get good reviews. A few of interesting things I found: In making sure mags were available (in addition to the 17-rnders Atlantic had, I found MecGars which were listed for the Kimber Ten II plus compatible with the Bul M5. Bul also makes polymer 2011 frames for other manufacturers. Bul was one of the first to make high capacity 1911-based pistols. A long way of saying I’m not familiar with that particular variant, but based on Bul reviews and my sample size of one, it’s probably a nice pistol. (YMMV  )

There was some sort of agreement between BUL and Kimber, Kimber was importing and selling their guns and probably also sourcing some parts from BUL. AI Summary: Yes BUL guns are traditional 1911s and probably being sold with Kimber rollmarks today

I'd always wondered why 40 cal 1911 weren't really available, seems like an excellent combination. STI made some for years. They were popular in USPSA Single Stack division. I’ve also seen the odd Kimber, Springfield, and more rarely Colt. |

The two newer Bul guns I’ve handled have been very nice. Nothing but praise from dudes with big money collections and others to compare to. |
