So I'm being given a Lorcin 380 for some help that I did for a friend.  I'm just curious if anyone has any info on this gun.  I know nothing about it.  I'm curious if it is a worthy gun to shoot or is it a peace of crap?

Well I did the google search and found about 99% negative crap on it and 1% positive on it.   Actually had one guy say he had no problem with his.  Maybe I'll get that lucky.

lol. the stuff you found was pretty much on the ball. I had one 15 years ago. It could only fire one or two rounds and the slide would have to be pushed close on the round to chamber it. It was pure junk and felt like pot metal. Gave it to a guy for an alarm system. The only reason I would own one is for a throw away gun, something to plant on someone to make a bad shoot a good shoot .

It was one of the brands referred to as a "Saturday Night Special" back in the 80s and 90s.  Agreed, it is a good drop gun, but if you buy one, the records trace to you, anyway, so not such a good drop gun.

You seriously think most people that own old lorcin's purchase them through ffl's and register them? They are one of the top gang banger trash guns. Most of the original owners that legally purchased them have sold them off to any sucker that will buy them.

+1.  Many also are used for "gun buyback" programs that the police did.  I read many posts a while back where people got double their money from them from the cops.

I have a Cobra .380 Which is the same design as the Lorcin & takes the same mags.... With a little work its not a bad little gun if you just want something to run into the dirt.

I got it brand new for about $150 and all I did to it was polish the feed ramp..... Other than not locking back on the last round, its been ok.

I wouldn't rust my life with it, but its good if you just want a gun you can run into the dirt & won't break the bank.

It is a complete piece of shit.  Of course the ones I usually see are in the waistband of a gang banger and have the serial number filed off.  Also, I would seriously question your friendship with your friend.  No real friend would ever give you a Lorcin.
