So I've had my Springfield MC Operator for about a year and put less that 1000 rounds through it so far.  The last range outing I noticed that the roll pin in the front sight had backed its way out a few millimeters.  I assume this pin is what keeps the sight from sliding side to side when shooting?  Anyways, called Springfield Armory and they are sending me a new roll pin.  I have not done any mods to the slide or sights at all and is all factory.

A few months after I bought it new, the rear sight had drifted itself all the way to one side.  Sent it back to Springfield so they could take a look at it and also install a magwell.

I was just wondering if this is a common occurrence or if it has happened to anyone else.

OP,

Do you have a Brazilian (Imbel) American assembled 1911?

Op, I have a multi-hand operator and after lngthy shooting sessions I will have to tap the pin in on the front sight back down. I never thought about replacing it.

I have no idea where it was assembled.  SN starts with "NM"

So I guess I'm not the only who had this happen.

Also, this is my first 1911 with an ambi safety.  I noticed that the right side of the safety is pretty loose and wobbles up and down like a loose tooth.  The safety still functions fine but it's just irritating that a weapon of this caliber feel that cheap.

Just use a punch to stake the roll pin in from the top of the sight. just a little will do.
