I currently have a Springfield Armory Loaded SS and have been nothing but super pleased with it.  I am tempted to get another 1911.  Just can't have one...  Here are my questions.

1. At the LGS, they have what I believe to be a Springfield Armory MC Operator in OD - price at $1155 plus taxes.  Is this a decent price?

2. The same LGS has a TRP Operator for $1499 plus taxes.  The TRP is more than I want to spend but is it REALLY worth the extra money to get the TRP over the MC?  Apologize if this question has been beaten to death already.

Please help inform a noobie to the TRP/MC Operator series.

The local SA dealer has an MCO at $1199.  The TRP Operator has a bull barrel and an adjustable rear sight, features not universally desireable on a combat 1911, so while they both have a rail, they're not an apples to apples comparison. The TRP pistols do have grip checkering and a magwell which if bought as ad-ons, would boost the price of a MCO above the TRP price.

I personally would pay new cost for a used MCO, I love mine that much..    I like the trp as well, but the MCo is just a little more rare and mine has roughly 25k rounds though it and its tight as ever.. (uspsa)

Thanks for the responses thus far.

I would love to get my hands on the TRP but at $1500, it's a bit too much.  The MCO is more in my price range.  If I chose to sell the MCO in the future for unseen reasons, will I have any problems selling it easier than the TRP?  I know right now the TRP's are HOT.  I don't want to buy the wrong SA 1911.

BTW, which ammo does the MCO/TRP feed well with?  I've had success with the 230grain WWB.  I assume it's the same for the MCO/TRP.  I'm getting closer to pulling the 'trigger' on either one.

i've been looking for one too, but with the recent hurricane i need to devote my funds else where right now.

if you look on gunbroker you can get a TRP non-rail for about that price of a MC operator

My other 1911 SA Loaded doesn't have the rail.  This time around I want one with a rail to add a light in the future.

Any further thoughts on this matter?  I am tempted to get the MCO.

My 'ideal' SA 1911 would be the TRP Operator but I am still unsure if it's worth the $1500 price tag?

Anyways, there's a gun show in town this week.  I'm going to check it out to compare prices for the MCO/TRP Operator.  Hope I can find something worthwhile.  Stay tuned...

I went to the local fun show today and happened to keep my eye out for an MC Operator after seeing a used one for sale locally that I thought the guy was way overpriced on.  By chance I found two today, one for $1060 and the other for about a hundred more.  Guy looking to trade his used one online was wanting around $1250   I did see a non-railed TRP for like $1400 or so which I thought was high.

The local fun-show today was exactly the opposite.  Everything was overpriced as usually.  No way in hell I am paying $1400 + taxes for the same MCO I saw at the LGS.  I opted for the SA XDS 45ACP for $520 + taxes.  There's always next time.

If I had a chance to get a MCO for $1060, I'd be all over it.

I had a feeling I would regret not getting it!

We never get prices like that around here for MCO.    Maybe I'll consider ordering online.  Any ideas where has the best price for the MCO?

thats the best price I have seen. champion firearms in texas had 2 or 3 last month but price was around 1100. I bought 3 new pistols from the last year and all were 100%.
they even shipped 1 of them next day because I was headed out on vacation and wanted it before we left town. very good people to deal with.

There's some on GunBroker for under $1100.
