My GF is planning on getting me a 1911 for Xmas. Either one would be my primary CCW after I heal from my work injury in about 6 months or so.
This will be my first 1911 other then my father's plain GI Model 1911. I can see the purpose for the rail but with the slim holster makers making holsters for railed 1911 makes it a mute point. Questions are: What are the differences between these two models other then finish, price and railed/non railed? What would you prefer for CCW and Home Defence? Thanks |

The majority of Springfield Loaded's are completely assembled in Brazil and come with a 2 piece forged barrel
All of the MC Operator's are assembled in the USA from Imbel forgings and come with a one piece forged Storm Lake barrel. There are US finished Loaded's as well, but they're rare. The serial prefix for the US finished versions is "NM", the Brazilian versions is "N". The MC Operator will always have an NM prefix (you can even look at Springfield's stock photo on their site), the Loaded's are a crap shoot with more of them being N-marked. You can't go wrong with either, but if I had the choice, I'd buy an MC Operator over a Loaded. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

The loadeds are good guns with nice features. You'll have a reliable, fun, solid shooter by owning one. But you'll have a slightly nicer, more solid shooter by buying the Operator in my (and probably most people's opinion). Plus it will probably hold its value a little better over time too. |
