This is a rookie question...
I am currently piecing togethor the parts needed to build my first home-built 1911, I purchased a slide that has no dovetails in it for the sights. Not a big deal becouse I am a toolmaker. I got to thinking when I machine the dovetails ino the slide and fit the sights onto the slide is the elevation screw on the rear sights all that I will need to adjust the sights to "zero" in on the target? I am not to worried about the left and right movement but it just seemed like there is not alot of movement for the elevation screw and being that the slide and barrel are from diffrent manufacturers it just seemed like there could be some error. |

If you are using a Bomar or adjustable novak clone then yes, the elevation screw is all that is needed. Now, I double dare you to cut the dovetails by hand with a file! LOL, My thumbs and fingers would be bleeding if I did that! Good thing I have access to a Bridgeport for what needs to be done! |
