So, I made an impulse purchase this weekend when I found what I thought was a deal on a H&K USP; however finding 15rd USP 9mm (full size) has been a chore.
After I got it home and unboxed it got to playing with it I realized both mags are 10 rounders I know, I know, but it's my first HK & never thought that there would be such an abomination...

I'm of the opinion if a defense pistol only holds 10 rounds, it better be larger than 9mm and/or it had better be smaller than most pistols. This is neither.

I got to wondering if I could drop the floor plate out of the mags, remove whatever blocking material is in the mag, and replace the follower spring with a 15 rd spring giving me increase capacity.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks, I found one other source as well, and upon returning home I took apart the mag, and confirmed that there is no chance at modding that how I had described.

Don't sweat the 10rnd mags just use them as practice
mags. I picked up a couple mags off of equipment exchange for cheap you just have to be ready to buy when they show up.
Even over the legendary Glock17 my full size USP 9mm is my absolute favorite 9mm pistol, just soft shooting as can be with the dual recoil spring and larger size/weight.

Here is some things I found out on purchasing mags for are USP's.
My pistol came with two "restricted law enforcement government use only" blah blah
They also say Heckler&Koch , made in Germany, 9x19, and also have a date code.
This also has HK on bottom floor plate clearly molded in it.

I picked up two more 15rnd factory HK mags and they are completely different in what is stamped/molded on them. Almost looks fake or generic at first but that is just looks because the mags are built exactly the same as my Law enforcement ones. The mags have the same Holes on side and back of bullet count is same, springs and followers are exact also.
These mags only have "Made in Germany", 9x19, and a very light almost unnoticeable HK logo on floor plate. I was suprised they don't say Heckler&Koch on the mag body but I verified these are genuine on HKpro forum. I handles a couple Chinese fake USP mags and they are definitely different molding and plastic feel to them, they are also missing a row of three little holes on both side of mags.

If I get on a computer soon I can host some pictures for everyone to help identification. It was hard to find detailed
mag info on USP mags like you can find for a Glock.
