Greetings all. Are the magazines for various Glocks of the same caliber (.45, 9mm, .40 ) compatible with each other? I'm pretty certain a G17 would fit in a G26 but please verify how compatible various Glock magazines may be with various models.
Thank you very much, Gunzer |

Yep, all mags from the bigger guns will fit the smaller guns of the same caliber. For example, G17 mags will fit and function in both the G19 and the G26 and G19 mags work well in the G26. In fact, I typically carry G17 mags for reloads when I carry my G26. The longer mags let me get my pinky on the gun and, with a G17 or G19 mag in the G26, I can shoot it as well as my G17.
The only place where this seems to break down is G22 mags in a G27. For whatever reason, on some G27s, there seems to be something that makes the longer mags fail to feed on occasion with the G27. Possibly enough play when combined with the larger bullet diameter that the round nosedives on the feed ramp. I've seen it happen a few times with guys at my PD that carry a G27 for backup/off duty and reload with G22 mags. It doesn't seem to be widespread; if you get a G27 that will work with longer mags, you seem to be able to use ANY mag. If you get one that won't feed well, it usually works but occasionally won't work. Possibly tolerance stacking on individual guns with individual mags? I don't know. I don't know if it happens on newer guns, the only guns I've seen it happen with were older 3rd Gen guns. .40 seems to be the only caliber effected, 9mm and .357 seem to be good to go, which lends credence to my theory that it is caused (or made worse) by the larger bullet diameter. I've never tried mags from other calibers. I have read that some people have made .40 mags work with 9mm, and the .40 and .357 mags are the same except for markings. Bub75 |

Bub75 I have a similiar problem with my G33 when using G32 or G31 mags. The occasional feed jam into the bottom of the feedramp. I think the baby Glocks are just not as compatable with the longer mags as we've been led to believe. I now use only the original size mags with my baby Glocks, which is a shame. |
| I shot a match with a guy a few years ago that used G22 mags in his G17. He simply loaded it with 9MM instead of 40. It worked from what I saw. As an aside, the guy was from Europe and used a Gen I G17 that he kept here in the states, in a safe-deposite box if I remember. He would come over on vacation, go do some shooting, leave the gun here and fly back home. He was a nice guy too. |

Thank you very much, Gunzer 40, 357, and 9mm will fit in all the similiar frames and longer mags will work in shorter frames. BUT .45's Will only fit in 45 or 10mm frames. They are simply to large to even go in the smaller caliber frames. And older 21 mags work just fine in the SF frames unless you have one of the ambi mag release guns because they utilize the front center cut out in the newer mags that are not cut in the older mags. |

We have been warned not to use the larger mags in our 27s due to reliability issues. I've never experienced the problem myself in my G27 with either G22 or G23 mags, they all work great, but obviously there are some out there how do experience problems. |

With a few exceptions, Glock magazines have the same magazine bodies; just different followers, springs and markings.
Magazines for the Glock 17, 22, 31 & 37 can interchange. Magazines for the Glock 19, 23, 25, 32 & 38 can intercahnge. Magazines for the Glock 26, 27, 28, 33 & 39 can interchange. Magazines for the Glock 20 & 21 can interchange. Magazines for teh Glock 29 & 30 can interchange. |
