Does anyone know whether the 16/17rd magazine for the .40S&W CZ Tactical Sport can be used in the CZ SP01 Tactical model?  Are there any aftermarket magazines for the Tactical model?

I own the 9mm TS & to the best of my knowledge its' mags are proprietary. No aftermarket mags are made as I searched hard for some options when I added some extras last year. Very low demand = no companies stepping forward.

Thanks for that - what do you think of the Tactical Sport?  I have the SP01 Shadow, but was after something in .40S&W for IPSC.

The TS - and its predecessor, the ST IPSC - are large-frame designs. Standard 75 derivatives - including SP-01s - are referred to as small-frame models. There are few parts that interchange between the two lines, owing to the significant differences in frame size.

All of the small frame models will accomodate mags of their frame length or longer. That is, a full size 75 - 75B, SP-01, etc - will accept any other full-size magazine. A compact - 75C, P-01, etc - will accept any compact magazine or any full-size magazine.

Also note that there is a relatively high degree of interchangability between small-frame CZ magazines and small-frame CZ-clone magazines. I have yet to find a large-frame CZ clone with mags that will interchange with the TS-type mags at all. (Translation: you may find small-frame CZ and clone mags to interchange - like some small-frame Tanfos - but none of the large-frame derivative designs (clones) will interchange with the large TS magazines.)

Mec-Gar offers aftermarket .40S&W magazines for standard (small-frame) CZs, which will fit the .40 caliber SP-01 Tactical model.

Thanks Walkure - we see lots of standard 75/85 CZs here, but the TS models are a rarity.  Are there any 16plus rd magazines available for the CZ SP01 Tactical in 40S&W?

That fit the IPSC box? Doubtful.

My guess as to your "best bet" would be a Mec-Gar AFC 12rd with a Mec-Gar +2 extension; that should be about the same length as a standard 18/19-rd SP-01 9mm magazine and give you 14+1. You might be able to get 15+1 if you tweak the follower; I don't know, as I haven't played around with any CZs in .40 other than my TS.

IIRC, those of us in the states can manage 16+ with standard .40 CZ mags using the CZ Custom extensions due to our 140mm length requirement in Limited (no box), but it's still not particularly competitive, given that most competitors have 20+ in their 140mm. (My TS mags are currently 20, if I ever get some Grams kits I should be able to manage 21 reloadable.)

I simply LOVE mine but it IS a 9mm, so recoil is minimal due to the slide size. I opted for 9mm for lower ammo cost as I don't reload.

Thanks for all the feedback guys - I've been really impressed by the SP01 Shadow and something similar in .40 would be ideal.  My only issue with the Tactical model is the low magazine capacity - 12 is unimpressive and even the mecgar mags at 14 are at the bottom end of competitive.  The Tactical Sports model is looking better and better - although it is signifcantly more expensive than the Tactical model.  Really appreciate everyones hands on info - certainly beats buying first and crying later!
