Are MecGar any good?

Where do you buy your mags?

What is the shiney coating and is it worth it?

Yes, Mecgar USED to make the factory mags for Beretta - And they make factory mags for many gun companies still. They are the only aftermarket brand of mags worth buying for most guns.

For the Beretta, however, you can also buy MDS mags - they are the current maker of factory mags. They sell the same mags w/o the Beretta marking for a few dollars less.

I have 2 mags with that special coating, but it's not really worth it I think. The mag may be less likely to rust on a carry gun - that's about it.

I buy mags from CDNN or gun shows typically.

And the MDS mags still have aluminum floor plates and not plastic like the Beretta factory mags come with now.

what exactly is the shiny reflective coating on the mags? My px4 has it, and I like the smooth feel.

So I should buy the MDS mags? I currently have 5 mec gar.

Mec-gar are great.  I have lots of the 18 round mags and they have all run 100%.  They can be found for less than $20 if you shop around.

Here is some!  Link

I have 2 factory mags and 4 MDS (same thing) for my Beretta 92. They work 100%, I bet Mec-Gar are just as good.
