I have a bunch of mags in the original packaging that I have bought over the last few years and was wondering if I should leave them in the plastic to hold it's value, or take them out if it doesn't hurt and save alot of room.  These are in semi-hard plastic cases.  This is all in preparation of another AWB.

I have 10 or 12 NIP G22 mags to complement my NIB G22 LE model. I'm thinking of selling the G22 so my mags will stay in the package––for the reason you mentioned.

Of course, I also have 5 or 6 M&P40 mags that are NIP, too. I figure it doesn't hurt to keep 'em in the packaging.

Now, my AR mags are all out of the package, and inside ammo cans. I don't plan on selling any of them, though.

I don't see how they'd be more valuable in their packaging.  They're not Star Wars figures.

Well assuming they're not pre-ban, as in pre-1994 ban........at this time, keeping them in the package, at the very best, will net you what you paid.

As for preparing for a future ban...........haven't all recent bans that have been thought up by the left completely gotten rid of all things "pre-ban"?  Meaning there wouldn't be such a clause in a future ban?  If so, you're back to getting you're money back, at best.
