Have a Springfield Armory 1911A1 GI and just noticed mine has broke in half.
One half still in the pistol, the other gone with the wind.

Would it make sense to just buy a whole new housing and pin.
I don't think this is a piece that would make any difference in the pistols
performance but Iv'e been wrong before.
Or,just save some dough and buy the retaining pin.

Where the heck do you buy the retaining pin alone.
Saw a bunch of housings but no pins?

thank you 1911 guru's

Brownells sells the pins alone for about $5.  Click on the Brownells logo above, and then "handguns", "parts" "small parts" etc., and then search "mainspring housing". There will probably be a minimum charge and exhorbitant postage so be careful.

You could also pick up an extra recoil spring and a few extra mag springs in addition to your pin.

I hate paying more for shipping than the part so I try to order parts I know I'll need in the future.
