I'm about to apply for a new Concealed carry license and am looking to get a new compact 45. Just looking for how the pistol performs. I've owned a few M&P9's and a 40 in the past, haven't ventured into the 45 models.
Specifically how is the trigger rest on this model? Trigger pull weight? My wife's new M&P9 has got to have the heaviest pull that I have felt on one, trigger scale ends on 8 lbs and it's either on that or beyond. Any issues with the light pistol and the 45 round? Suggestions on iwb holsters? |
| I absolutely love mine. The stock trigger was probably about 6.5 pounds with a gritty take-up so I threw in an Apex hard sear and an ATEI safety plunger making it smooth at 4.5. As for recoil: it’s an M&P. It handles muzzle flip better than most any other service pistol. You’ll be very fast and very accurate with it. |

Just to echo what everyone else says.
The 45c hits that sweet spot; it's essentially the same size as a glock 19 and is a great compromise of concealability and shootability. Mine has been extremely accurate and reliable. handles recoil as well as any other 45 pistol. Trigger on mine is pretty heavy, i'd guesstimate 7-8 lbs. Apex products can take of that, but it doesn't bother me too much. You won't be disappointed. |

Only issue I had with mine was with magazine springs. Supposedly a bad batch was in circulation for a few years.

Smith was sending out replacement springs for the asking. The new ones I received were painted light blue on top. Supposedly, they are now painted black. Bad ones were purple from what I recall. Haven't seen the problem since. Trigger pull on mine came in at around 8 lbs and was gritty and stiff. I did the Burwell Trigger job on mine and it greatly improved pull weight and feel (comes in at 5 lbs now). |
