I want an M&P9. I've heard the newer ones have the better trigger that used to be on the Shield only. Is this true? Is there any way you can tell by looking at one that it is a 2013 model? Thanks.

1) Make sure the pistol is empty
2) Cock the pistol, then pull the trigger and HOLD IT BACK
3) Retract the slide to recock the striker, then let it return to battery
4) SLOWLY release the trigger

If you get and audible/tactile reset "click" then its probably a new trigger. If reset is mushy, it's a pre-2012 trigger.

You cvan also find pictures of both sear blocks, but this requires disassembly.

Apex fixes anything in regards to the trigger on the M&P. My 2011 M&P40c had/has a great trigger out of the box. No grit, clean break, 5-6 pound pull, & good reset. A 2009 M&P40(mid-size) trigger blew cock. I installed the Apex competition hard sear, RAM, and Ultimate striker block in 30 minutes, all for $100. It is easily the best trigger available in any polymer pistol at the moment. It is only beat by my semi-custom 1911. Buy with confidence OP.
