Had several light primer strikes at the range, cheapo ammo. Rounds went off successfully in the range officer's glock. After comparing my M&P with another one on the range, it appears my plunger, which is supposed to activate the internal firing pin safety and keep it from traveling forward, is ineffectual. Defunct. Not doing it's job. It also seems the rear portion of the firing pin has sheared. Finally, the trigger bar which you must pull out to disassemble the gun appears bent.
1: Has anyone seen this before? 2: Are these wear-and-tear issues and should S&W cover them? 3: Where can I find pieces to replace them (plunger spring, firing pin, etc)? I'm having a hard time finding them on Brownells... I'll check the EE here while I'm at it. |

My m&p 9c suffers from the occasional light primer strike too.
I need to send it back to S&W but I just haven't gotten around to it. S&W has excellent customer service. They pay shipping both ways, they are real easy to deal with and it is back in a couple weeks. I wouldn't screw with trying to fix it yourself, I would just go to the S&W website, submit your issue and they will email you a pre-paid label. This is at least my 3rd S&W (2 M&Ps and a 22a) that I have had to send back. |

Sorry to hear that but smith will make it right, and as was posted they will pay shipping both ways. One thing I have been told for varies reasons is that M&Ps do not like to be dry fired a large amount, smith has went through a few revisions of the striker in this pistol ( ie the firing pin as you posted ) due to them breaking with actual firing and dry firing. Did you dry fire it a lot? |
