What do you guys have to say about the 45 M&P? yay or nay? I have shot the 40, and loved it, plan on buying one... any help? also, I have read somewhere that there is a 14 round magazine available for it... is this true?  any help you can give me would be great

Thumbs up. My M&P has given me flawless performance with Wolf, Blazer and Black Hills ammo.  Its the only double stacked 45acp that can fit my hand comfortably and I like the removable back straps that can be changed without tools.  Gotta love S&Ws promotion giving you two extra mags and a $50 rebate too.

Big thumbs up.  It's cycled every ammo load I've thrown at it (including reloads with many different profiles of bullets), it's comfortable in the hand, and it's made in the U.S.

I have no clue about the 14-round magazines, but hoping the rumor is true!

When I first held it I couldn't believe how comfortable the grip was, nor could I believe it held 10 rounds of .45.  The grip is like a clown car for bullets.

I don't have mine yet, I have it on layaway.  But I can't wait to get it to the range.

The first day at the range I was hitting paper 18" x 18" at 100 yards.  Not every time but darn near..  At 50 yards I was nailing the paper in the circle every time and at 25 yards, in the black most every shot.  Since then I've put approx 600 rounds through it and loved every shot.  Not one problem and eats every thing I put through it.  If feels great in my hand and is a good looking pistol.... It's definitely a keeper.

I also bought a M&P 9c with the 45 - although it's not as accurate as the 45, it's just as reliable.  I've got approx 600 rounds through it too.  JHPs, FMJ's, reloads... etc.  The only con is the slide lock.  It's hard to release but hopefully it'll loosen up in another few hundred rounds.  It's fine for me but a little hard for the wife.

the real question is, would you take it over a 1911?

It's not a slide release, but rather a slide catch.  Start running your hand over the top of the gun and you will see the light.

some yes.. some no.  the ones that would be a yes is probably 3x + the cost as the M&P too..  so in other words, I'll take an M&P and an AR over a 1911.

One came home with me on Tuesday.  Still haven't been able to get tot he range and it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon, either.  Gave it a detail strip to clean and it's all ready.

Now I'm waiting on a M&P 45c.
