I am thinking about getting an M&P auto for competition shooting (IPSC & IDPA.)  Is there anyone making custom trigger parts similar to what Ghost is doing for Glock?  Also, recoil springs, mag release, slide lock release and replacement barrels?

Thanks!!

I am looking at the M&P for IDPA as well.  Looks like this Dan guy is the guru of M&P's.  I like working on my own stuff though.  Not much I can't do to a Glock.  One would think that the M&P would have more swap out upgrade parts available to it?

I have a M&P 40. You can pretty much do an trigger job  on the gun and not spend a dime!link I am sure one becomes more skilled in doing the trigger job on the M&P when you have done a few.

Keep in mind that the M&P has only been available 15 months now. The first ones started shipping in January of '06 so give it a little time for parts and accessories to catch up.

As more and more people adopt the M&P and as more and more Police Departments start using them the aftermarket parts and accessories will follow.

And yes, Dan is an M&P guru!

Well, I just finished the trigger job posted by Dan the man.  What a huge difference it makes!!  Easy to do really too!  I also installed a set of Dawson Precision sights.  Saturday is match day...

Coltman - Let us know how you did. I know that Subzero and VA_Dinger have ran their M&Ps at the monthly Blackwater matches and they were very pleased. I haven't had a chance to make it yet but I'm hoping to next month.

Sorry this is so late but I wanted to shoot it at a couple matches before saying anything.  I have been shooting a Glock 22 & 17 until I got the M&P.  Comments are as follows:

Better balance and lighter feeling recoil than the G22, almost as light as the G17.  Reloads were much easier and smoother, the magwell just presents itself better!  Accuarcy was better after 3 stages.  The gun points better in my hand, even longer shots were more acc. then my Glocks after some trigger time.  I don't like how dirty the mags become when dropped.  The Glock mags don't get sand in them like the M&P mags, I had a mag follower jam in one.  Thankfully it didn't affect my shooting.  I think I might try to tape up the windows on the mag.  The good thing is that the mags come apart to clean super easy!!  Zero malfunctions and I was shooting it like it was my "old" gun after 3-4 stages.  VERY HAPPY!!
