I sent an email over to Storm Lake Barrels today regarding a possible 1/2x28 TPI barrel for the 9mm Shield. I am trying to gauge interest so that I can forward this information to them. This way they can have an idea of the market for such a barrel. Please chime in if you would be interested. Also, please note any pricing or other suggestions for them, as I will link this post in a future email.

Mods,
If this is in the wrong place, please move as deemed appropriate. I want to try to assist the community with a new product if possible.

Thank you everyone for your support.

I know I'd like a normal M&P barrel with a normal threading instead of the HK/Euro/Gemtech spec they have.

Haven't even held a Shield yet, so I can't say about that.

Why 1/2 X 28?  Use same thread as the factory extended threaded. Commonality would probably sell more.

I might be interested in one.

Why not use 1/2x28? The de-facto standard for most of the 9mm cans I've run across.

Because thats the only thread pattern S&W sells anymore.

Just because a manufacturer made a bonehead move doesn't mean we have to follow. Heck - I'd already have one if they'd have used the thread pitch ALL my other 9mm stuff uses.

I chose 1/2x28 because Storm Lake already produces full size M&P barrels with this thread and there are plenty of cans to choose from as well.

What thread are you using?

All my 9mm stuff is in 1/2x28.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE that S&W sells a reasonably prices threaded barrel.. but I rather despise the fact that they chose the HK metric threading and the Gemtech adapter drawings instead of the more standardized industry values.

1/2x28 is the only thread pattern S&W makes anymore.

They started with the metric threads, but have discontinued that barrel.

Call them.  The barrels are $134 for 1/2x28, and last I checked, they were in stock too.  I ordered two, had them in a week....and I placed my order 2 weeks ago.

Really?

COOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL

I'm going to own one of those sooner than later. (the last time I called, all they had were the reverse metric ones)

Not me, my Osprey45 would look ridiculous on it.

Now if I had a little tiny 9mm can, they heck yeah I would be interested.

I've got the euro thread pitch mount for my trident 9 but I'd be interested in a barrel. Oh or maybe a 40 to 9 conversion threaded if thats not too much to ask.

Not to bring the topic back from weeks of nothing, but a google search brought me. I'm looking for exactly that, a 1/2 x 28" threaded barrel for my 9mm shield. Would certainly buy one when they came out.

I emailed Storm Lake last month about a standard barrel for the Shield. I was told they have no plans to make any barrels for the Shield.

If you find one let me know and 1/2x28 TPI is definitely the way to go

Can I say I'd be interested when I actually get both a shield and my suppressor (Osprey 45)? Unlike an earlier poster, I think it'd be hilarious to put that large a can on that tiny a pistol. It might even, by some miracle, be shootable.

a threaded barrel for the shield would just be silly

That's what I think too
