Hey all.  I was out shooting today and after about 80 or so rounds my backstrap starting coming a little loose.  I pulled out my frame tool and re-inserted it making sure the backstrap was in properly as well.  Do these frame tools start wearing after a while the more and more you take them out and re-insert them?  I have had mine out about 20 or so times since I have owned this particular M&P and seem to think that maybe I just need a new frame tool.  Is there any way the frame itself can start wearing where the frame tool nub meets the frame and locks in place when the backstrap is in place?

To me, thats really the only part of the M&P that I dislike.  It appears as if the tool could loosen up a bit over time, though I've never seen it personally.  I'd order a new one (they're only 4 dollars) and then leave it be once you put it in next time since you don't have to take it out to disassemble your M&P.

Yes, that little nub halfway up the tool can rub off after a while and make the backstrap a little loose.  You can call S&W and they will send you out a replacement free of charge.

The "nub" is polymer and can deform if it is not in the "slot" when inserted correctly.  This will cause the "looseness" you describe.  Call S&W's CS and tell them the issue.  They will send several.  +1 for their CS.

My frame tool is my right pinky finger; the only time I had the frame tool off the pistol and in my hand was to install the medium blackstrap after trying the large and finding it well.....too large.

I don't use it, except to change grip palm swells. That is very rare. So mine is still very tight.
