| I like the feel and look of the mp9/mp40 and am strongly considerin purchasing one. My only concern is the trigger. It seems weak and weird to me that it has a pivot in it, I'm not closed minded to it, but I'm concerned its a poor design. I have been endlessly searching for a cz75b stainless, with no luck, and am seriously considering a m&p...imput?? |

Will you be carrying it? Apex makes a forward-set trigger that basically replaces the stock trigger with an aluminum Glock-style trigger and shortens the travel.
I thought about one for my new MP45, but I went with their standard DCAEK kit to smooth it out instead, since I plan to carry it and didn't want a range-only trigger. |

i could never figure out all the blather about M&P triggers. I don't find them all that different than Glocks. Neither will ever be mistaken for a tuned 1911. I've played with a few M&P's, and each trigger felt different. Different levels of "mushy" and "gritty" etc. and none had a clean, consistent break. Glock triggers don't feel nearly as mushy to me, especially with a 3.5lb disconnector. After the Apex kit, I like the M&P trigger more. |

| Mine were gritty, mushy with no real reset. My new Shield is the worst of my 3. I installed the DCAEK kit from Apex except the USB. Had ATEi polish and radius the USB and do work on the reset and the 2 triggers are pretty darn nice now. Going to get my new Shield done once I get some night sights. Couldnt recommend ATEi more or atleast a Apex tactical kit. |

I have observed that those who complain about "trigger feel" on a fighting gun often use it as a crutch. Well I just ran a IDPA match with the new M&P45, and I will say, if I hadn't swapped in the APEX parts, the small steels would have been tougher, having shot with the stock trigger a few times. I did pretty darn well for a new to me gun with new to me sights (XS standard tritium dot) and I think I've found a good combo for me. Hardest part was the one stage with half-hidden swingers at ~15yd. Hard to get perfect timing on a moving target with a mushy trigger with inconsistent break. |

A wide trigger with a light pull weight and little to no take-up. None of my carry guns have a manual safety, so I don't really want a mouse-click trigger. I've got 1911's with such triggers, but they have manual safeties. Personal preference, I guess... |

As I said the gun wont be for carry, its big, but the forward set trigger sounds like something I would like. I will probably shoot the gun for awhile and see what I think of it before I go making changes. Approx cost of said trigger? Gunsmith or DIY job? Do you like it on a non carry gun? |

I don't have the trigger on my M&P, just the DCAEK, which is sear, springs and RAM. Prices are on APEX's site. If you can use a punch and don't have the touch of an elephant, you can do it yourself, just don't drop any small parts. The PRO has a better trigger than the base M&Ps anyway, just shoot it and see what you think. |
