I am looking to get some speedloaders for my .44s- definetely a couple for my Charter Bulldog and maybe another for my Ruger Redhawk. I am already familiar with using the HKS loaders, which I use with my Taurus .22 (with decent effect) in competition. My initial reaction was to buy those- they are fast and i have never experienced rounds dropping in my pocket unless my fingers get playful. However, I saw the Maxfires listed in Dillon press and the pricepoint is definetely cheaper than the HKS loaders and I am intrigued by the one piece concept. The speedloaders would mostly be for range use/ competition- though I frequently carry the Charter, I do not typically carry a reload (I could fathom using the .44 SPL speedloaders to carry a reload, but that is not a priority, so I am not looking for speed strips or anything like that- which are more carryable than quick). The Redhawk is not a carry gun- just a range gun that may occasionally be carried afield for wilderness protection or hunting purposes.
1. Are the Maxfires at all quicker to reload off of than the HKS? 2. How do the bullets seat in the chambers with the Maxfire relative to the HKS? 3. Is the Maxfire a smoothe/ natural motion to reload off of? 4. Does the Maxfire retain rounds better than the HKS? While I have a good idea of what I'm looking for, the pricepoint on the Maxfire's is nice and I don't want to pass them up if they might be useful. So, I look forward to your information/ advice. |
