| I am interested in a new pistol. I am thinking about a P30, a usp compact, and a Sig 229. My question is whats the big differnece between the USP's and the P30? I am leaning towards the p30 but what is a good price for a new one in 9mm. |

My question is whats the big differnece between the USP's and the P30? ,,,what is a good price for a new one in 9mm They are different pistols. The P30 is a newer design. The frames/grips are different. The P30 more ergonomic, and a bit more slim than the USPc. I always found the USP and USPc to be a bit bulky. The P30 has removable grip panels and a Std 1913 (Picatinny) rail. The USPc rail is a proprietary design that requires an adapter for most lights. The P30 has an ambidextrous slide release, the USPc does not. I like the P30 and P2000 better than the USP series but that's just me. I also like the Sig P229 but if i was going with a Sig compact 9mm, I'd get a P228. A bit slimmer and lighter than the P229. I have two P228s and one P229 but it's a .40/357sig. Buds has the P30 for $831 delivered. You won't find much better on a new one. |
| The P30 is an ergonomically improved USP compact. The internals are pretty much the same. I would go for the P30S myself, as I like having the safety on there. However, the USP and P30 are fairly abrasive on the sides, and that can be rough if you intend to CCW IWB. for that, I would give the P2000 series a serious look. (Different grip, but again, same internals). For me, I carry the HK45c, which is very similar to the P2000, but in 45, of course. =) |

I ve been carrying my HK USP and USP Compact for 5 yrs now and I have no trouble. The only issue I have is the frame rubbing against the skin if you dont wear a shirt between your skin and gun. You will get rubbed raw if you carry it all day in a hot, humid, and sweaty environment. |

A USP frame is going to outlast a 229 frame if lots of shots are fired thru it. I personally don't need the adjustable backstraps as I have large hands, so the P30 doesn't appeal to me there. Why pay for something I don't need nor want? My .o2 |

that's a good deal; congrats.
since i have small hands, the P30 wins for me. the USP's grip is way too bulky and has shitty ergos. the P30 is superior to the USP series for my tastes and needs and i have been very happy with my P30 LEM, which is my EDC. so good i bought two. |
