| just a note... if you are thinking about a MechTech for USPSA PCC, it is about 1/2 the cost of building an AR style carbine, but you give up the ability to easily tune for lower power factor... the bolt is heavy, and they use an extension spring (screen door type)... I did a pretty extensive search for different wire diameter springs but was not successful...mine runs well with my 133 power factor pistol loads, but won't fully cycle and eject 130 pf loads... as commented, a very inexpensive way to get into PCC... a lot of fun |

It's a MechTech upper that mates with your Glock upper. It doesn't come with any sights but you can install your own sites or a red dot, it seems like Aimpoint was made for this thing. MechTEch works with Aimpoint really well. You get increased velocity with a 16.25" barrel, accuracy with the red dot sight, recoil is milder than an AR15, it stays on target more or less, muzzle blast is nill and ammo is available everywhere and you can reload your own. At 50 yards, I was getting about 4" groups, so this thing is almost as accurate as a rifle. I didn't even try very hard, my targets were not visible very well, and I didn't have a decent benchrest. I think with an effort it can do 4-5" at 100. I did have one jam with Wolf ammo. 115 grain FMJ. Also Wolf groups were easily twice as large as Federal groups. 124 Grain TMJ and fed flawlessly. At about 22 yards, they produced one tight, touching cluster. If you need compactness, you can remove the upper and put back the original glock slide. However I like it so much, I don't see myself doing that. The bad. There is no bolt hold-upon on the last shot, so it functions much like an AK47 or an HK91. This is weird but you can get used to it. There is no safety on the original Glock so why does one expect safety on a MechTech upper. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x260/dictum9/hardware/mechtech1_zpsckycxy6x.jpg I know we are all built different, but how was the fit to your body as compared to an AR15, lop, cheek weld etc ? Thanks for posting this, very interesting design. |

RWM..the one ad nauseam reviewed has several options that you don't get with the base conversion unit... my base price unit has a fixed stock that looks like an adjustable carbine stock but is not.. it is about the same length of pull as a carbine stock with one hole showing... in addition to an adjustable stock, his has a flash hider and rail system... the base unit has a small hand grip and plain muzzle ... I threaded mine for 5/8-24 and punched a bigger hole in a .308 Miculek comp http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/LesSnyder/002_zpsaoxh8pov.jpg Thanks. I read up on their website last night. I do like that there are some options avaliable. I prefer a short lop, so this thing might just need to be added to my need to have list. Any idea who the barrel maker is ? |
