| I've read quite a lot and watched loads of YT videos on the Rock Island Armory, with tremendous positive experience. So, with all the internet love, what is the next 'step up' from a RIA Rock/TAC series 1911?? Colt? Remmington? Sprinfield? Kimber? I've read what seems like less positive press for those brands than RIA... which could be price/expectation related, I dunno. |

Anything below $1,500 is lower level to me. Mid level are the DW 1911 pistols. I have two of them now and one upper level, a Night Hawk Custom. The DW are my edc pistols in 10mm. Check them out. Also, DW will make special order pistols with your specs. This. Also would add that IMHO the TRP is an example of a quality mid level 1911. |

Yup. Solid pistols with a good rep. Quoted:

Probably Ruger. Yup. Solid pistols with a good rep. I love my Colt Combat Elite but these guys are right. The Ruger is a very solid pistol for the money. I had one before I got my Colt. I loved it well enough I gave to my son in law when the kids moved to Georgia and the only pistol they had was daughter's Ruger LC9. Plus the Ruger is ~ 25%-30% cheaper than a Combat Elite. Although Colt now has one that you should be able to find for only a couple hundred more. |
