Okay, I have had one for about two years, and have neglected to shoot it as much as my other guns. Recently I have begun the habit of carrying it once again and went shooting with it over the weekend to get "back in the saddle" with the gun. Yes, it has a fair amount of recoil, and yes, I HATE the ease with which you can drop a magazine, and once again, yes I anticipate the shot and F**KING bury the next shot if I don't focus: BUT, I want to (and for some reason still do) love the little bastard. How can I and more importantly who does or has done a few modifications to it? Specifically: 1. I HAVE to change the length/weight/feel of the trigger pull. 2. Does anyone else have the problem of suddenly finding that since you put it in your pocket/holster/center console that the safety has switched itself off? 3. What ammo works best in the thing (I thought I had found one that worked with that steep feed ramp, but Winchester Silvertips let me down last time out - two FTFeeds, and I'm pretty sure the mags were clean and in working order)? 4. Once again I HAVE to make it so that my clumsy thumb on my right hand doesn't wrap around high enough to activate the "weak spring" magazine release. I usually carry/have a snubby .357, but have recently purchased a beater Jeep, and the snubby stays there, now. Ideal form and function would be similar to my CZ or Beretta 96 Centurion. |

Hi Ajax, I have a MilPRO PT-145. If this disqualifies me from responding then feel free to ignore my post. Otherwise, responses are below:
I don't know if there's any practical way to do that other than making sure it's broken-in and lubricated well enough that the trigger smooths out. Also, if you have the older Millennium (non-PRO) pistol, my understanding is that the MilPro trigger is different and vastly improved. I can say that the only complaints I have about my trigger (MilPRO) is that it bites the edge of my finger a bit, and the pull is certainly long. But, I enjoy the weight and feel of the pull otherwise.
I have not had this problem, no. Mine does have a distinct "click" to it that doesn't take a LOT of force to toggle, but certainly more than enough than would be exerted by accident. Might be another Mil vs. MilPRO issue, if yours is the former.
Are the rounds definitely getting hung up on the feed ramp itself? That would surprise me since the ramp is so highly polished, also when the top-most round is waiting to be loaded by the slide, it's almost directly aligned with the chamber in mine. It barely ever touches the ramp. YMMV with the .40 though, of course.
I don't have this problem either, with the semi-flush mag release button. Another Mil vs. MilPRO thing maybe? (I am still just supposing that you have the former.) HTH. |
