I'm curious: What opinion do to arfcom 1911 gurus have about Miller Custom? m He's a solid gunsmith and a heck of a nice guy. Unfortunately he's been "discovered" and his build times have increased dramatically. Plus he's a college student and that takes much of his time. If you commission him for a build, you'll be pleased that you did. I'm sure everybody here on the board who's dealt with him will agree. |

I didn't see a 1911 on the market that had what I wanted, so full custom was the way to go for me ![]() Any eta on when it will be complete? I remember you posting it up before but can you post up the specs/details of the build again? Thanks |
| Glad I came across this thread. Reminds me that I have a STI Spartan that's been with him since 2007. I'll have to give him a shout for an update. Finally got to meet him in person at SHOT this year and overall he impressed me as a good kid pursuing his goals and with a real desire to establish himself in this industry. The work I've seen from him has impressed me. In fact, it was a write-up of work he performed on an el-cheapo brand 1911 that prompted me to pick up a STI Spartan and send it off to him as a test run. If I like the finished product, probably throw something better at him for another full build. |

He walked me through his shop and even his gunsafe in his damn house when I dropped off my Springfield!
He kept me there talking for an hour and a half, if it hadn't been for a doctor's appt. on my part and work on his, I'd have stayed longer, lol This guy is top notch. The work he was showing me is even better than the pics can show. I can't wait to get mine back! |

I've spent $10-13K with Mr. Miller (some of mine are pictured above actually), and I would put them up against any of custom pistol smith's work. He's a very reasonable fellow to work with as well, and it may be his engineering background, but his attention to detail and ability to follow the client's instructions are superb.
All of my guns have been excellent performers as well, so they are more than just "lookers", and depending on ho you spec them, they should last you a lifetime of use. |

I've spent about that much over the years with Bob. What more can be said? He builds high quality custom 1911's exactly how the customer wants, his prices are outstanding, his wait times more than reasonable, he is a super nice guy with none of that Super Ego Custom 1911 Gunsmith attitde that some seem to have, and he has a really cool dog |
